In 2008, Tomica was contracted by Nissan to create a series of color sample sets depicting three different models, including the Tiida, Cube and Note, none of which were available in the Tomica mainline at the time. While the sets were initially not-for-sale items in Japan, they were later offered through Nissan’s online catalog on July 15th 2009, retailing for 6800 yen each.
The Nissan Note Color Sample set is a Tomica gift set. It was only ever sold in Japan.
The set includes 8 1/60 scale replicas of the first generation Nissan Note [E11], featuring every available color at the time. Also included are plastic display stands for each car, with the name of every color imprinted onto them. In addition to this, the color names are stamped onto the bases of the corresponding cars.
This marks the first appearance of Tomica’s first-generation Nissan Note casting, which would later be issued in Lumina Red as No. 22.
Despite this, the color sample models differ in several ways from the No. 22 issue, as they feature a body colored grille, clear headlight lenses, painted foglight surrounds and a tamposed third brake light.
The number of sets sold is estimated to be as little as 150.
This set was issued a whopping 5 years after the first generation Note had gone on sale!
